Rochester General Hospital allegedly selected only two American applicants for its residency program.
Department of Labor Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito requested information from Rochester General Hospital in New York after reports that the hospital accepted just two American applicants for its residency program, while giving the remaining 80 positions to H-1B and J-1 visa holders.
IG D’Esposito stated, “How many residency slots went to H‑1B and J‑1 visa holders? How many American applicants got a fair shot?” He cited President Trump’s executive order regarding visa abuse, saying, “If the system is being gamed, we’ll work with [Vice President Vance’s] White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud to expose it.”
Earlier this month, President Trump’s administration placed restrictions on the entry of certain H-1B workers for one year. The White House reported a decline of more than 90 percent in H-1B visa registrations from IT staffing and outsourcing firms after the restrictions were imposed.
